Walls Covered in His Name

Re:Zero's fourth season follows Subaru and the Emilia Camp as they trek to the Pleiades Watchtower, seeking a Sage who may hold the key to restoring what the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony took. The Loss Arc has steadily stripped Subaru of everything, his memories included, and Episode 11 brings that trajectory to its breaking point.

Japanese gaming news site Dengeki Online's preview shows Subaru caught at the scene while searching for Meili Portroute's body. He ends up trapped in an ice cage, desperately insisting he's lost his memory. Ram (Rie Murakawa) isn't buying it. Convinced he's an impostor, she knocks him unconscious with wind magic.

When Subaru wakes, things have gotten stranger. He's somehow outside the cage, and every surrounding wall is carved with the words "Natsuki Subaru Has Arrived." Before he can make sense of any of it, Reid Astrea (Tomokazu Sugita) appears behind him. Reid should be confined to the Watchtower's fourth floor, so his appearance only deepens the confusion.

The episode title is a deliberate riff on the series name. The show is Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, with hajimeru as the active verb: Subaru starts life over. Episode 11 swaps it to hajimaru, the intransitive form, where life simply starts on its own. For a Subaru who has spent this entire arc without his memories or any control over his situation, the verb change tracks.

Staff and the Break Time Short

Yoshiko Nakamura wrote the script for Episode 11, with Kazuhiro Ozawa on storyboards and Yudai Ishikawa directing. Haruka Sagawa, who handles both character design and chief animation direction for the season at WHITE FOX (Steins;Gate, Goblin Slayer), also supervised the episode's animation.

The full Season 4 cast returns for the Loss Arc's conclusion. Yusuke Kobayashi leads as Subaru, joined by Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, Inori Minase as Rem, and Takuya Eguchi as Julius Juukulius. Kengo Kawanishi voices both Ley Batenkaitos and Roy Alphard, while Konomi Kohara rounds out the Witch Cult contingent as Louis Arneb.

Alongside the main episode, the companion mini anime Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Kyuukei Jikan (Break Time) releases its 77th installment, "The Golden Lion and the Sword Saint." This short follows Reinhard as he takes on the task of escorting the captured Sirius to the royal capital, exchanging words with Ricardo and Garfiel before departing Priestella with Felt.

Looking Ahead

Episode 11 closes out the Loss Arc's 11-episode run and marks the halfway point of Season 4's total 19 episodes. The Recapture Arc begins August 12, 2026, picking up where the finale leaves off with its own eight-episode run. That's roughly an eight-week gap between cours.

Crunchyroll streams Re:Zero Season 4 as a simulcast across North America, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Oceania, and Southeast Asia, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. In Japan, ABEMA and d Anime Store carry episodes ahead of broadcast, with other platforms following Saturdays at 10:30 PM JST.

The source light novel by Tappei Nagatsuki is published under KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J imprint, with series composition by Masahiro Yokotani and scenario supervision from Nagatsuki himself. Yen Press handles the English release of both the light novel and manga adaptation for readers looking to push ahead of the anime.
