A 250-Meter-High Stage for Maomao and Jinshi
The Tokyo City View observation deck sits 250 meters above street level on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, with 11-meter ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass wrapping the entire deck. Starting August 1, the venue transforms into an Apothecary Diaries exhibition built around the anime's dance scenes, pairing custom-lit installations with panoramic views of Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and the city skyline.
The event, officially titled "TV Anime The Apothecary Diaries x Tokyo City View: A Fantastical World Woven by Dance," is the series' first exhibition centered on the "night sky and dance" concept. Oricon News reported the event will run through October 26, 2026, with doors open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (last entry at 9:30 PM).
What to Expect Inside
The exhibition centers on iconic dance sequences featuring Maomao and Jinshi, recreating key scenes and memorable dialogue from the anime. Organizers are promising display items making their first public appearance in Japan, though specifics remain under wraps for now.
The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a sharp-witted apothecary girl who gets swept into the imperial rear palace and ends up solving one mystery after another. The anime adaptation premiered in 2023 and quickly built an audience with its mix of period-drama intrigue, character-driven storytelling, and richly detailed setting. The dynamic between Maomao and Jinshi, the enigmatic palace official, sits at the heart of the show.
Event-exclusive merchandise will also be available on site. Ticket pricing has not been announced yet. The exhibition is organized by Tokyo City View and ADK Emotions Inc., with J-WAVE as a media partner. A dedicated event website is live at kusuriya-event-roppongihills.com.
Looking Ahead
The exhibition's August opening lines up with a packed stretch for the franchise. Season 3 of the anime premieres in October 2026 on Nippon Television, airing in a split-cour format with the second half following in April 2027. A theatrical film featuring an original story by series creator Natsu Hyuuga is set for December 2026.
Crunchyroll has streamed both previous seasons of The Apothecary Diaries internationally. No streaming partner has been confirmed for Season 3, though an announcement is likely closer to the October premiere. The source light novels are published in English by J-Novel Club, and Yen Press publishes the manga adaptation.
The Roppongi Hills event is a Tokyo-only experience, but given the franchise's growing international profile, similar exhibitions may surface outside Japan as Season 3 approaches.
