Three Momotaro Agency Newcomers, Three Familiar Voices
The headline additions all sit on the enemy side. Every one of the new characters belongs to the Momotaro Agency, the organization descended from the folk hero that has been at war with Shiki Ichinose's Oni Agency since the series began, according to Japanese anime news site Anime Anime.
Yuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan) voices Hizumi Momotsugi (桃次歪). Kenichi Suzumura (Obanai Iguro in Demon Slayer) plays Kusabi Momoura (桃裏楔). Kisho Taniyama (Chuya Nakahara in Bungo Stray Dogs) rounds out the trio as Senritsu Momoo (桃尾旋律). Taniyama also has an Attack on Titan connection of his own, having voiced Jean Kirschtein opposite Kaji's Eren.
The report doesn't describe what the three characters want or where they rank inside the agency. Their first appearances are in the new PV, which the official project channel posted alongside the announcement. They join Nobuhiko Okamoto and Kent Ito, who were added to the arc's cast when the October window was first confirmed back in March.
The core cast returns: Kazuki Ura as Shiki, Hiroshi Kamiya as Naito Mudano, Shogo Sakata as Ikari Yaoroshi, and Gakuto Kajiwara as Oni Brigade captain Hayate Todoroki.
What the Key Visual Shows
The new key visual puts Shiki, Mudano, Yaoroshi and Todoroki in front of a suspicious-looking research facility, which Anime Anime identifies as the arc's main setting. Yaoroshi is notably dressed in something other than his Rasetsu Academy uniform, a detail the report points to without explaining.
The official English site's synopsis fills in some of that context. After the Kyoto and Nerima battles, Yaoroshi rejects Mudano's lessons on friendship, is drawn to Todoroki's call for the total eradication of the Momotaro, and leaves the academy. Shiki, Mudano and the other students go after him to Nikko, where Kegon Falls has stopped flowing and a massive research facility has been built in its place.
Tougen Anki adapts Yura Urushibara's manga from Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, which has passed 6.5 million copies in circulation. It takes the Momotaro folk tale everyone in Japan grows up with and turns it into a dark-hero story about the descendants of oni fighting the descendants of Momotaro. Season 1 covered the Kyoto arc from July 2025 and the Nerima arc from October 2025.
Studio Hibari is back on animation production, with director Ato Nonaka, series writer Yukie Sugawara, character designer Ryoko Amisaki and composer Kohta Yamamoto all returning.
New Opening and Ending Themes
The arc gets fresh music on both ends. Hiromitsu Kitayama performs the opening theme "BACKLASH," and TRACK15 handles the ending theme "Te to Te" (手と手, roughly "Hand in Hand"). Snippets of both play in the PV, and the official site has posted comments from each artist.
Broadcast Schedule and Recap Specials
The Nikko Kegon Falls Arc airs Fridays at 11:30 p.m. starting October 2, 2026 on Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night block, carried by 30 stations nationwide. It's a split two-cour season: the first half runs from October, and the second half starts in April 2027.
Nippon TV is also airing two special compilation episodes as a lead-in. The Kyoto arc recap runs late night on September 30 (listed as 25:35, so technically 1:35 a.m. on October 1), followed by the Nerima arc recap in the same slot on October 1. Both stream on Japanese platforms right after broadcast.
Domestically, ABEMA, d Anime Store, U-NEXT and Anime Hodai get each new episode first, right after the Friday broadcast (listed as 24:30, so technically 12:30 a.m. Saturday). Japanese Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu and 17 other services follow from October 5, with the free ad-supported service TVer starting October 8.
Looking Ahead
International streaming for the new arc hasn't been spelled out in the Anime Anime report. Season 1 streamed on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Prime Video outside Japan, and the official global site currently lists Netflix and Crunchyroll (excluding Japan and mainland China) plus Prime Video in select territories, so a similar rollout looks likely. Confirmation for the October 2 premiere specifically is still pending.
The manga is available in English from Yen Press under the title Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood. In Japan, the series is up to volume 30.
The next milestone after the October 2 premiere is the second cour, which picks up in April 2027.
