Dance Scenes Take Center Stage at 250 Meters
The 45-million-copy franchise is branching out from screens to skylines. A press release from event organizers confirmed that Tokyo City View, the panoramic observation deck on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, will host an immersive Apothecary Diaries exhibition this summer.
The event's dual theme is "night sky" and "dance." Attendees will walk through scenes recreating the anime's most atmospheric dance moments between Maomao and Jinshi, staged against the real Tokyo skyline visible through the venue's floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The production team behind the anime, TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM (Pokémon), has built a reputation for lush period-drama visuals, and the event promises to translate that on-screen elegance into physical space.
The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a sharp-tongued young pharmacist who gets swept into life at the imperial court, solving poisoning cases and political mysteries along the way. The series blends detective fiction with court intrigue in a richly detailed, Chinese-inspired historical setting.
What to Expect Inside
The exhibition will feature first-ever displays alongside retrospective installations that revisit iconic scenes and memorable lines from across the anime's run. Event-exclusive merchandise will also be available, though specific lineups have not been announced.
Tokyo City View sits at 250 meters above sea level, with 11-meter ceilings and unobstructed views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree. The venue regularly hosts cultural exhibitions, but a full anime collaboration on this scale is notable for the location.
The event runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (last entry at 9:30 p.m.), August 1 through October 26, 2026. Admission pricing has not been set. The organizers are the TV Anime The Apothecary Diaries x Tokyo City View Event Executive Committee, a partnership between Tokyo City View and ADK Emotions, with radio station J-WAVE as a supporting sponsor.
An event website is live, and updates will roll out through the official event account @Kusuriya_tcv on X.
Looking Ahead
The exhibition opens two months before Season 3 of the anime premieres in October 2026 on Nippon TV, running in a split-cour format with the second half arriving in April 2027. A theatrical film featuring an original story by series creator Natsu Hyūga follows in December 2026.
Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream Season 3 internationally, continuing its run as the series' global home. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on the platform now for anyone looking to catch up before the event or the new season.
Further details on exhibition content and the merchandise lineup are expected in the coming weeks.
