Loid and Yor Take On Anya's Drawing Song

The clip comes from the drawing-song segment staged at ANIME EXTRA MISSION, the series' first large-scale cast event, held June 9, 2024 at Musashino Forest Sports Plaza in Tokyo. An ekakiuta, or drawing song, is a Japanese children's format where the lyrics narrate each stroke, so anyone who follows along is supposed to end up with a recognizable picture. Three of the Forger household's voice actors tried it: Takuya Eguchi, who voices Loid and also played Hachiman Hikigaya in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU; Saori Hayami, Yor's voice and Demon Slayer's Shinobu Kocho; and Kenichiro Matsuda as the dog, Bond.

Hayami opened with clean, unhesitating straight lines. That confidence did not survive contact with Anya's face. By the time she reached the outline and the bangs she was laughing nervously and letting out a small "hold on a second," according to Japanese entertainment news site Anime Anime's report on the video.

The replies did the rest. Fans asked why the mouth had ended up below the chin, why Hayami of all people had been handed the pen, and how her pen could wander that much when the song spells out every stroke. "Her face turned square," one wrote. "Hayami-san!?!?!?" wrote another. A third said she had entered the state of a legendary children's-TV song presenter.

Then Eguchi stepped in. Quote-posting the video, Loid's voice actor wrote: "the one who's really a problem here is Hayami-san,,,, please believe me,,,,,,"

Eguchi's Three Mountains

Eguchi fared no better.

The song's opening line translates to "there was one mountain," a cue meant to produce the rice-ball silhouette of Anya's head. Eguchi skipped the rice ball and drew an actual mountain. Then, per the replies, two more. "Three mountains on the opening move," one fan noted. From there, a human face was out of the question.

Fans compared the finished drawing to a special-grade cursed object, borrowing Jujutsu Kaisen's vocabulary, and to an earthbound ghost fused with Turbo Granny. "A monster was born," ran another reply. "Loid's only weakness is the guy inside him." One fan zeroed in on the delivery rather than the output: "the scariest part is the total lack of hesitation. How is he drawing that smoothly."

Anya's own voice actor, Atsumi Tanezaki, is not in the clip. She had been announced for ANIME EXTRA MISSION but withdrew from the event for health reasons, per the event listing on Anime Hack.

Where Spy x Family Stands

Tatsuya Endo's manga runs on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app and follows an elite spy codenamed Twilight, ordered to build a family and infiltrate a prestigious elementary school. Operating under the cover identity of psychiatrist Loid Forger, he takes in a daughter, Anya, who is secretly a telepath, and proposes a marriage of convenience to Yor, who is secretly an assassin. All three live as a temporary family for the sake of the mission, and none of them knows what the others are hiding.

Wit Studio and CloverWorks co-produce the TV anime. Season 1 began in April 2022 and Season 2 in October 2023. Season 3 premiered October 4, 2025 with Yukiko Imai as director and ran 13 episodes through December 27, 2025, covering Loid's past. The theatrical film Spy x Family Code: White opened in December 2023 and was a major box-office hit.

Looking Ahead

ANIME EXTRA MISSION II is set for November 8, 2026 at Bellesalle Takadanobaba in Tokyo, with an afternoon and an evening performance. Eguchi, Tanezaki, Hayami and Matsuda are all on the announced lineup, and attendees receive a pamphlet carrying interviews with eight cast members. No Season 4 has been announced.

For international viewers, all three seasons stream on Crunchyroll, with Netflix and Hulu also carrying the series in the US and Muse Communication handling Asia-Pacific distribution. On the manga side, Viz Media publishes the English edition in print and runs new chapters through its Shonen Jump app; volume 16 arrived in English on September 1, 2026, while the Japanese edition is up to volume 17.
