Five more voice actors have joined the cast of the Netflix anime series Fool Night, Anime Hack reported on November 5. All episodes will stream worldwide from November 26, 2026, according to Netflix, and the announcement also revealed the theme song artists, a main trailer and a key visual.
The story is set on an oxygen-starved Earth where people near death are turned into plants, using a technology Netflix calls Transfloration. The new cast members are:
- Shion Wakayama as Sumi Matsuno, a young pianist searching for her father, who has been transformed into a plant
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Nishi, who plots to abolish the Transfloration system
- Yumiko Kobayashi as Ivy, a person covered entirely in vines who is involved in a series of murders
- Sayaka Sembongi as Meg Okumura, a middle school student who joins an anti-Transfloration demonstration with her father
- Hiroshi Tsuchida as Ken Hikasa, a political party's secretary-general who speaks out against the system
Tsuchida died in October, according to a report on Yahoo News Japan. In a comment carried by Anime Hack, he described Hikasa as a cold man who will use any means to reach his goal.
Rock band Tempalay performs the opening theme, "Shake! spit out," and singer Nowlu performs the ending theme, "iki." Tempalay said the song was inspired by a Shakespeare passage quoted at the start of Fool Night.
The main trailer is set to the opening theme. It shows riots by opponents of Transfloration and a speech by Hikasa, who leads them. Anime Hack says it also gives the first full look at Ivy and includes scenes suggesting intense battles.
A Fool Night street piano exhibition will run November 27-29 in the B1F Atrium at Tokyo Midtown. It will feature art inspired by the series from a contemporary flower artist, a street piano buried in plants, and display panels. A limited quantity of original stickers is scheduled to be handed out at the venue.
