Rakuten Goes All-In on Demon Slayer Merch
Rakuten Group's mascot, the Okaimono Panda, is suiting up as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps — at least in illustrated form. The Japanese e-commerce giant has kicked off its second annual Demon Slayer collaboration, this time tied to the home video release of the franchise's record-breaking theatrical film.
The campaign, officially titled "Demon Slayer x Rakuten Group Blu-ray & DVD Release Commemoration! Demon Slayer Infinite Shopping Squad — Returns!" spans six Rakuten services including Rakuten Books, Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Fashion, Super Point Screen, Rakuten Kobo, and moflog. Users who meet participation conditions on any of these platforms enter a lottery for one of 1,850 original drawstring bags featuring newly drawn crossover art of the Demon Slayer cast alongside Rakuten's Okaimono Panda, as reported by Anime Anime.
What's Up for Grabs
Rakuten Books is the campaign's centerpiece, stocking a deep lineup of exclusive goods tied to the Infinity Castle Chapter 1 Blu-ray and DVD. Highlights include:
- Scene-photo karuta cards — a first-come, first-served bonus for select products
- Infinite Calendar — an acrylic perpetual calendar, also first-come, first-served
- Overlay Charafine Graph with serial number and stainless steel tumbler — a Rakuten Books-exclusive set
- Original shipping box — select orders ship in a custom Demon Slayer box
- Umbrella marker 4-piece set — exclusive to Rakuten Mobile subscribers who purchase qualifying products
On top of those, Rakuten Books is selling 10 types of collaboration goods using newly drawn illustrations: acrylic stands, can badges, knapsacks, sauna bags, sticker-and-clear-card sets, and coasters. These collab goods are sold separately from the campaign lottery.
Buyers who purchase qualifying products through Rakuten Books also get a shot at a mini Demon Slayer Corps greeting photo event on August 29, 2026, where attendees receive a Rakuten Books-exclusive acrylic keychain. Applications close August 2.
The Film Behind the Merch
The collaboration celebrates the home video release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Chapter 1 — Akaza Returns, animated by ufotable (Demon Slayer, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works). The film, which opened on July 18, 2025, accumulated 27.45 million admissions and ¥40.2 billion (approximately $260 million) at the Japanese domestic box office over 266 days — making it the second-highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history, behind only the franchise's own Mugen Train.
The Infinity Castle Arc adapts the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons in their stronghold, the Infinity Castle. It's the first part of a planned trilogy. The source manga by Koyoharu Gotouge ran for 23 volumes in Shueisha's Jump Comics and has surpassed 220 million copies in circulation.
The Blu-ray and DVD hit shelves on July 29, 2026. Standard editions are priced at ¥4,950 (Blu-ray) and ¥4,400 (DVD), with limited editions running ¥11,000 and ¥9,900 respectively.
How to Participate
The Rakuten campaign runs from June 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM through August 31 at 9:59 AM (JST). Each participating service has its own entry conditions:
- Rakuten Books (400 winners): Purchase the Infinity Castle Chapter 1 Blu-ray or DVD
- Rakuten Mobile (400 winners): View the Rakuten Link app home screen at least once, or complete a rate simulation on the designated site
- Rakuten Fashion (250 winners): Make a single purchase of ¥3,980 or more
- Rakuten Kobo (400 winners): Make a single purchase of ¥500 or more
- moflog (300 winners): Register for the first time
- Super Point Screen (100 winners): Earn points on five or more days
One catch: even if you qualify across multiple services, you can only win one drawstring bag. However, meeting the Rakuten Books condition alongside any other service triples your odds in that second service's lottery — a clear incentive to buy the disc through Rakuten.
Looking Ahead
The Blu-ray and DVD release on July 29 will be the first opportunity to own Infinity Castle Chapter 1 at home. No international home video release has been announced yet, and streaming availability outside Japan remains unconfirmed — though Crunchyroll has handled the franchise's previous seasons.
The second film in the Infinity Castle trilogy has not yet received a release date. For fans outside Japan, the Rakuten-exclusive merchandise is limited to domestic Rakuten services, though third-party import options like CDJapan are stocking the standard Blu-ray and DVD editions.
The manga is available in English from Viz Media, with all 23 volumes in print.
