The Final Battle Gets Its Biggest Preview Yet

Pierrot Films' long-running Bleach revival is gearing up for its grand finale. Oricon News reported that the main promotional video for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity dropped on May 19, giving fans their most substantial look yet at the anime's fourth and final cour.

The PV wastes no time. It opens on a white-knuckle clash between Ichigo Kurosaki and Yhwach, then cycles through a highlight reel of flashy combat featuring Kisuke Urahara, Yoruichi Shihōin, the captains of the Gotei 13, and Ishida Uryū. The tagline sets the stakes plainly: what awaits beyond the calamity — despair or hope?

According to the official synopsis, this final stretch sees Ichigo learn Uryū's true intentions and reaffirm their bond as friends, while Yhwach evolves into something that transcends even "The Almighty." The thousand-year conflict between Soul Reapers and Quincy heads for its conclusion with the fate of three worlds hanging in the balance.

Episodes 1-3 Screen Early in Tokyo

Before the broadcast premiere, fans in Japan will get a head start. The first three episodes of The Calamity will screen in a one-day-only theatrical event on June 21, 2026 at United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba.

Two showings are scheduled — 14:00 and 16:35 — both followed by a stage greeting featuring five cast members: Masakazu Morita (Ichigo Kurosaki), Noriaki Sugiyama (Uryū Ishida), Shin'ichirō Miki (Kisuke Urahara), Yūichirō Umehara (Jugram Haschwalth), and Shunsuke Takeuchi (Askin Nakk Le Vaar). The 16:35 showing is exclusive to Klub Outside members — Bleach's official fan club.

Attendees will receive a set of three original illustration cards as a bonus. Klub Outside members also get an exclusive sticker drawn by original manga creator Tite Kubo.

The Road to The Calamity

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has been adapting the manga's final arc in seasonal installments since October 2022. The first cour ran through December 2022, the second from July through September 2023, and the third from October through December 2024. Each cour has been produced by Pierrot Films under chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi, with Hikaru Murata serving as series director, Masashi Kudo on character design, and Shiro Sagisu composing the score.

The source manga by Tite Kubo ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2016 and has surpassed 130 million copies in cumulative circulation. Bleach also had a TV anime run from 2004 to 2012 and a 2018 live-action film.

Looking Ahead

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity premieres in Japan in July 2026. For international viewers, the previous three cours streamed on Disney+ and Hulu — the final cour is expected to follow the same distribution path, though no official confirmation for The Calamity's international rollout has been announced yet. The manga is published in English by Viz Media, with all 74 volumes available.

The main PV is now available on the official Bleach anime YouTube channel for anyone who wants to see the beginning of the end.
