Crunchyroll announced a TV anime adaptation of JH's webtoon The Boxer on October 8, 2026 at its Crunchyroll Showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026, along with the main cast, staff and a teaser PV (Anime News Network).
Kōki Uchiyama voices the protagonist Yu, who climbs toward the champion's path with overwhelming talent beyond human limits. Kenshō Ono plays Ryu, a naturally gifted boxer who becomes Yu's first opponent; Tomokazu Seki plays K, the legendary trainer who spots Yu's talent; and Toshiyuki Toyonaga plays J, a legendary boxer who has retired from competition, ORICON NEWS reports. The teaser is the first time the four actors have been heard in their roles.
Takehiro Kubota, a director on My Happy Marriage, is co-directing with KANG Wonyeong, whose credits include Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress and Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress. breccia and STUDIO JEMI share animation production, with BLUE RIGHTS credited as creative producer (PR TIMES). Oricon describes breccia as a new studio set up by a founding member of Kinema Citrus, and STUDIO JEMI as a Korea-based studio that co-produces the Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez series with Kinema Citrus and has worked on various Japanese anime as a production-assistance partner.
The Boxer ran on NAVER WEBTOON in Korea from 2019 and on LINE Manga in Japan from 2020 to 2022, and has passed 1.06 billion cumulative views worldwide as of September 2026. WEBTOON has released the complete series in English digitally. The announcement did not include a broadcast date.
