Sound! Euphonium Final Chapter Part 1 Premieres April 24, 2026

Sound! Euphonium Final Chapter Part 1 has officially set its theatrical release date for April 24, 2026, marking the beginning of the series' grand conclusion. The announcement came during the "We Are Here!! - KyoAni's World Exhibition" event held at Kyoto Municipal Industrial Exhibition Hall Miyako Messe on October 26, 2025. The designation as "Part 1" confirms the final chapter will be released in multiple installments, extending the beloved franchise's theatrical presence.

The Sound! Euphonium franchise has captivated audiences since Kyoto Animation launched the first television series in April 2015. Over the past decade, the studio has produced three television seasons and five theatrical films including compilation movies and spin-offs, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025. The series follows the journey of the Kitauji High School Concert Band as they strive for gold at the national competition, resonating with viewers through its stunning visuals, powerful musical performances, and heartfelt storytelling.

The newly released first key visual showcases protagonist Kumiko Oumae and her close friend Reina Kousaka standing with determined expressions, backed by silhouettes of the club's past presidents and vice-presidents. The tagline reads "This journey becomes the next song," capturing the bittersweet continuity and fleeting nature of school club activities as one generation passes the torch to the next.

The trailer features never-before-seen backstage footage not included in the third television season, building anticipation for the theatrical experience. The background music prominently features "Infernal Galop" (commonly known as the "Can-Can" from Orpheus in the Underworld), which became iconic in the first season during Kumiko's tearful confession of frustration. The trailer weaves together dialogue from upperclassmen expressing their determination to win gold at nationals, highlighting Kumiko and Reina's resolve and the passionate energy of youth.

During Kumiko's first two years at Kitauji High School, the concert band fell short of their goal of winning gold at the national competition, accumulating painful defeats along the way. Now in her senior year as club president, Kumiko carries the weight of those disappointments and the unfulfilled dreams of her predecessors as she faces her final competition.

The Final Chapter film will be helmed by director Taichi Ogawa, with series veteran Tatsuya Ishihara serving as general director. Ishihara has led Kyoto Animation's production team throughout the 10-year journey. Screenwriter Jukki Hanada returns to pen a new script, incorporating numerous original scenes and performance sequences not depicted in the television series. The production aims to deliver a theatrical experience worthy of the "Final Chapter" title through enhanced animation quality and expanded storytelling.

The third and final television season aired from April to July 2024 on NHK E-television, following Kumiko's senior year as she takes on the role of club president for her final high school chapter.

Advance tickets featuring the first key visual will go on sale October 31 at theaters and online retailers. Each ticket purchase includes one of four random original clear file folders (A4 size) featuring street fashion illustrations of the characters drawn by character designer Kazumi Ikeda.

Sound! Euphonium Final Chapter Part 1 opens in approximately 200 theaters across Japan on April 24, 2026, distributed by Shochiku.
