SPY×FAMILY x Mid-Century MODERN Pop-Up Store Opens in Shibuya

SPY×FAMILY is getting the designer furniture treatment it deserves. According to PR Times, furniture retailer Mid-Century MODERN (MCM) is launching a special collaboration pop-up shop at Shibuya PARCO's 5th floor from October 31 through November 9, bringing the iconic mid-century aesthetic from the manga's pages into the real world.

The collaboration was born from a simple observation: SPY×FAMILY creator Tatsuya Endo has filled the manga's panels with carefully chosen mid-century modern furniture pieces. For fans who've followed Loid, Yor, and Anya's adventures, those classic Eames chairs and vintage sofas are as much a part of the Forger family's home as the characters themselves. When MCM noticed this consistent design motif, they reached out to propose the collaboration, and the result is a furniture lover's dream.

The centerpiece of the collection is an exclusive Side Shell chair featuring Anya's school uniform design, personally illustrated by Endo specifically for this event. Priced at 220,000 yen (approximately $1,470 USD), the made-to-order chair captures Anya's signature look in furniture form. But that's just the beginning. The lineup includes an Anya-themed seat pad (5,500 yen), a Bond-themed rug (13,200 yen), and a collection of apparel featuring "Yor's 1 Week Coordinate" and "The Chair Collection" T-shirts (6,600 yen each).

For serious collectors, the crown jewel is a limited-edition Herman Miller Marshmallow Sofa reupholstered in colors inspired by the SPY×FAMILY manga covers. Only one unit exists, priced at 1,760,000 yen (approximately $11,750 USD), and it will be sold through a lottery system. Applications open October 31 at 11:00 AM and close November 17 at 1:00 PM via the MCM's "calif" app. Even if you don't enter the lottery, the sofa will be on display throughout the pop-up for photo opportunities.

The collaboration also includes tote bags, hand towels (tenugui), stickers, and a mobile decoration—all incorporating the manga's artwork and the mid-century modern design philosophy. For context, mid-century modern design refers to the iconic furniture and product design movement from roughly the 1940s-1960s, championed by designers like Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Eero Saarinen.

SPY×FAMILY, currently serialized on Shonen Jump+, has sold over 38 million copies as of March 2025, with Season 3 of the anime currently airing. The series' attention to period-appropriate interior design has always been a subtle but appreciated detail for design-savvy fans, making this collaboration a natural fit.

The pop-up runs from October 31 to November 9 at Shibuya PARCO, 5th floor, open 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. Most items will also be available through MCM's official online store "calif."
